Pastoral Support
Humanists UK is committed to ensuring that all people with non-religious beliefs have access to pastoral support in hospitals, prisons, and across a range of institutions and community settings, just as religious people have access to such support. More information for this is available at the Humanists UK Pastoral Care website.
Some members of North East Humanists have undergone pastoral support training with Humanists UK and are accredited carers with the Non-Religious Pastoral Support Network. They volunteer within the chaplaincy teams in local prisons, hospitals, hospices, and universities.
North East Humanists aims to be a caring community. We are aware that many people struggle with loneliness, depression, and other difficulties. Sometimes, people need someone to talk to about a particular problem. Whilst our pastoral support team cannot offer a fully-fledged counselling service, you can contact us to arrange a confidential chat. We may also be able to offer help with practical things like getting a lift to a meeting or sending a card to someone in hospital. Please let us know how we can help.
