Hi! We are North East Humanists and we are a local charity who want as many people as possible in the North East of England to have awareness, understanding, and acceptance of Humanism as a purposeful and moral basis for leading a happy and fulfilling life. We provide information to individuals and institutions in the community about Humanism, and we organise local activities that help put Humanist values into practice.

According to UK surveys, people with ‘no religion’ are either in the majority or at least the biggest belief group after Christianity. But if we don't come together to share our opinions, they will not be effectively heard or understood. For decades now, Humanist groups have formed at local, national, and international levels to help address this and North East Humanists have been around since 1957 playing our part.

On this site, you can find lots of details about who we are, what Humanism is, what activities we organise, and how you can join in. Check out our monthly bulletin, and please consider a membership for as little as £10 per year. Your support for Humanist organisations enable so much more than you might have guessed. Have a look around to see for yourself and be sure to contact us with any questions.

Come and meet us at World Family Fun day - Saturday 21st June, 11am-2pm, Merryoaks Centre, Park House Road, Durham, DH1 3QF - Food, music, science activities, crafts and more (see activities section for more details).
